Singular Joter - Saloniki - Argentan - Senator 1996 Hanoverian Black Mare 16.1 Hands

Canterbury Court

Sigourney was not only the champion of her
inspection site, she was also the #3 mare for
the AHS in her inspection year. She has a
very typey head and exquisite conformation.
Her normal trot shows great elevation and a
natural passage.
Sigourney’s sire, Singular Joter was one of
the stars of the State Stud of Celle with a
dressage index of 122 and a jumping index of
135. Singular Joter scored an incredible
156.11 in jumping at his performance test. He
is a proven producer of successful offspring
in both jumping and dressage. His full brother
Singular Joter II was third in the Young
Jumper World Championships in 2000 and
has gone on to be a successful Grand Prix
jumper. His daughter Sunrise was the
reserve World Cup Champion in 2007 with
Imke Schellekens-Bartels. A Singular Joter
daughter produced the reserve champion of
the Oldenburg licensing First Feroz (by Furst
Heinrich) who will stand at Gestut Vorverk,
the home of Rubinstein.
Sigourney's dam has produced four States
Premium mares by Weinerwald as well as
licensed stallions by Weinerwald, Singular
Joter (a full brother to Sigourney) and
Ramiro’s Boy. She goes back twice through
Saloniki and Senator to the rare Semper
Idem Trakehner line which is noted for its
production of jumping horses. The chestnut
Senator was a handsome stallion with
generous proportions in length and size,
correct conformation, ample neck and
shoulders, good hooves and excellent
movement. He presented 40 approved sons
and numerous highly decorated show mares.
Senator‘s most significant stallion sons were
undoubtedly Sender, Sesam 1 and Senat.
Sender first stood in Drochtersen, where
Senator was also born. His best-known
stallion sons were Saloniki, Salut, Seelöwe,
Sendbote and Senussi. In the Emsland,
Sender presented top showjumpers such as
Sarto 3 / H.W. Johannsmann, Soltau /
Bernhard Kamps and Sethos 2 / Norbert Koof.
The Sender genotype is preserved today via
Saloniki, Salem and Salvano. Silvano‘s sons
Sherlock Holmes and Salieri are increasingly
distinguishing themselves as sires, thereby
increasing the likelihood of the continuation
of the bloodline in the male line. Anky van
Grunsven’s World Cup winner Salinero is a
Salieri offspring. Three Servus sons have
been licensed - the successful competition
sports horses Slibovitz and Spartan and the
latter‘s son Stakkato.
Sigourney has additional Trakehner blood
through the immortal Argentan 1994
Hanoverian Stallion of the Year. Argentan
was one of the most important sons of
Absatz He left no less than 1486 Hanoverian
registered offspring, 18 licensed sons, 9 of
them approved Hanoverian: Advocat, Al
Capone, Archipel, Aircraft, Amani, Argentinus
(2005 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year),
Airport, Ansas and Argrand. He passed
stallions performance test in 1970 at
Westercelle ranking 4th out of 15. While his
approved sons are certainly very influential
in German warmblood breeds one shouldn't
forget to have a look at his daughters: He
sired no less than three DLG show winners:
SPS Arabella born in 1979 has won at
Frankfurt in 1984, SPS Aragonia born in 1974
has won at Frankfurt in 1978 and SPS
Ascona born in 1977 got it in Hanover in
1980. Arabella also managed to win the
honorable Louis Wiegels title in 1982 as well
as the best in show title at
Bundesstutenschau at Verden in 1983.
Aragonia was also considered best in show
at Ratje-Niebuhr-show in 1979 at Verden. His
blood is still widely spread in the Hanoverian
breed and elsewhere. When Argentan died he
left offspring competing up to international
level in dressage, jumping and three day
eventing and even FEI level driving. The fact
he has no less than 593 registered daughters
in the Hanoverian breed (115 of them States
premium mares) indicates he is far from
being forgotten. He is a perfect role model for
the theory versatility is not necessarily in
your way to the top but it is possible to breed
top quality jumpers and dressage horses at
once.
This mare line has also produced the Celle
stallions Rosentau (dressage ) and Landjager
G (jumping) again showing the versatility of
this damline.
